What leaving might look like
Eurosceptics have different ideas about what Britain might look like and how it might govern itself if it left the EU. Argument over how desirable and possible these ideas are is an important part of the EU debate.
Some of the most popular plans discuss following the examples of Norway & Iceland, Turkey or Switzerland, which are out of the EU but closely linked to it. Others argue that Britain should have a new Free Trade Agreement relationship like Mexico or Korea, or that our links to the EU should rely on World Trade Organisation rules. Any of these might be achieved by the Treaty of Lisbon’s official exit mechanism, Article 50.
